1-800 Flowers Reports 21% Sales Leap

Thanks to a strong holiday season, 1-800 Flowers.com will post a 21% increase in revenue during the second quarter–to $162 million– compared with the same period last year.

The floral gift marketer also expects a 43% increase in gross profit margin.

In addition, the firm projects that online revenue to grow by 27% to $60.5 million. Telephone sales are projected to increase by 18% to $93.5 million.

CEO Jim McCann said in a statement that the company achieved this growth “without resorting to the aggressive promotional pricing that characterized much of the retail sector this past holiday quarter.”

Final results for the quarter, which ended on Dec. 30, will be reported on Jan. 23.
