1-800-Flowers.com, Westbury, NY, has purchased The Children’s Group from Peoria, IL-based Foster & Gallagher, Inc. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
The Children’s Group is made up of HearthSong, which offers wood and natural material toys, crafts and books with educational, nature and art themes, and Magic Cabin Dolls, which sells natural-fiber dolls and kits. Items from each brand are targeted at children ages three through 12.
In 2000, The Children’s Group generated roughly $30 million in revenue.
The acquisition also gives 1-800-Flowers.com with a 200,000-square-foot distribution center in Vidalia, OH, and a database of more than 2 million customers.
McCann continued, “This asset, that comes as part of The Children’s Group acquisition, fills that need and saves us from having to expend capital to build a new facility a year or two down the road.”
