Had a tough time trying dealing with an online media rep? You’re not alone. According to a survey by online marketing services provider WebAdvantage.net, 73% of the media buyers surveyed said they were satisfied with their dealings with online media reps no more than 50% of the time.

Forty-two percent of the media buyers said they expect a response from online media reps within 24 hours; another 40% said within 48 hours. But only 51% said they were satisfied with the timeliness of reps at least 75% of the time.

When contacting a site about buying an ad, 53% e-mail first, then follow up with a phone call; 24% rely exclusively on e-mail, and 22% call first, then follow up with e-mail.

As for sites that provide an online form as the sole means of contacting them about ad opportunities, 24% of media buyers said that it dissuades them from buying space on the site. Sixty percent “dislike these forms but fill them out anyway not expecting much from the site”; only 2% praised the forms for making their life easier.
