Wal-Mart Stores Hires McDonald's Goodman for Marketing Post

Mark Goodman, a former McDonald's Corp. executive, has joined Wal-Mart Stores as executive VP-marketing and membership for Sam's Club. The position went into effect on Oct. 1.

Mark Goodman, a former McDonald's Corp. executive, has joined Wal-Mart Stores as executive VP-marketing and membership for Sam's Club. The position went into effect on Oct. 1.

In his new role, Goodman, 37, will oversee strategy development and marketing, and will work to enhance Sam's Club membership experiences for members. In addition, Goodman will also increase awareness of the membership benefits, including the Sam Club Plus membership and Sam's Club Discover credit card offering and travel services.

"Mark's leadership background, ideas and enthusiasm will help Sam's Club as we go forward with new ways to better serve our members," said Doug McMillon, president and CEO, in a statement.

Goodman joined McDonald's in 1999, where he held several key roles within the company. He served as VP-U.S. strategy and operations, helping to outline the vision for the company's long-term growth for the U.S. operation. In addition, Goodman helped guide management through development of a 10-year roadmap identifying key consumer and trade trends.
