Sony Pictures has named Valerie Van Galder president of TriStar Pictures, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Under Galder, Tristar, one of several Sony specialty film labels, will become a marketing and acquisitions company. She will be responsible for marketing certain productions under the Columbia Pictures and Screen Gems labels.
