Printer R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. reported net income of $53 million for the quarter ended Dec. 31, a 26% drop from $72 million in the fourth quarter of 2000.
Quarterly revenue for the Chicago-based firm was $1.4 billion, down 12% from the year ago period.
Full year net income, excluding one-time items, was $174 million, down 33% from $259 million in 2000. Full year revenue was $5.3 billion, down 8% from $5.7 billion the year before.
"We maintained a strong financial position in 2001 despite a severe downturn in the economy," said chairman/CEO William L. Davis in a statement.
