The Direct Marketing Association, New York, named S. Scott Roberts vice president, public relations and communications. He will direct public affairs, media relations, and executive and member communications.
Pointing out that the first day on his new job was too soon to state what his biggest challenge might be or what strategy he might tack to address it, Roberts told DIRECT Newsline, "There are so many kinds of needs here to get to various target audiences. The first thing is to get things done and the second is the explain what the DMA is doing on behalf of its members and the public."
"Part of my mandate," he also said, "is to direct communications to those groups that really don't know about the DMA, what it can do for them, or are not excited by it."
In his 30-years in public relations, Roberts held positions at Marketing Discovers Inc., American Cyanamid Co., Lewis & Gilman, Edward Gottlieb & Associates, and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
