Banta Corp. saw its first quarter sales jump from $336.4 million in 2003 to $373.1 million in 2004. The Manasha, WI-based printing firm’s net income rose from $11.2 million to $141.1 million during the same period. The quarter ended April 3.
Among its operating segments, printing and digital imaging revenue sales amounted to $246.5 million during the quarter just ended, up from $232.3 million a year ago. Supply-chain management generated $103 million , up from $81.5 million, and healthcare rose slightly from $22.6 million to $23.5 million.
With the exception of healthcare, earnings within each of the segments were up as well. While printing and digital imaging’s earnings rose from $13.2 million to $16.9 million, and supply-chain management jumped from $9 million to $10.8 million, healthcare’s earnings slipped from $2.7 million to $2.1 million.
