PIC to Replace VeriSign in Management of .org Domain

VeriSign will no longer maintain and operate the .org top-level domain. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) board of directors voted to replace VeriSign with Public Interest Registry (PIR). PIR will subcontract with Afilias, the operator of .info to provide operational support. PIR will assume responsibility for .org starting Jan. 1, 2003.
