Yahoo! Names New Managers Yahoo! Inc. has named Dr. Qi Lu senior vide president of engineering for search and search marketing. Lu will lead development efforts on Yahoo!’s Web search and monetization platforms. Lu was instrumental in developing Yahoo!’s social search products, in the acquisition and integration of Flickr and Del.icio.us, and in developing Yahoo! Maps and Yahoo! Local. The company also appointed Ash Patel as chief product officer. Patel will have responsibility for global product strategy and emerging products and technologies.
Classified Leader to Helm Google Local Google has put real-estate vertical veteran Sam Sebastian in charge of Google Local, according to a post by blogger Peter Krasilovsky. Sebastian is the former head of Homescape, the real-estate Web portal operated by Classified Ventures LLC, a joint online venture backed by newspaper companies as Knight Ridder, Gannett, Tribune Co., the McClatchy Co. and The Washington Post Co.

Miva Small Business Names Harrell GM Performance marketing network Miva has appointed James Harrell vice president and general manager of its Miva Small Business division. Harrell is the former director o software development at Miva Small Business. The division offers e-commerce solutions that include online storefront, shopping cart, shipping and payment capabilities.
