These interactive “widgets” enable consumers to browse and organize online classified ads by product category, which in turn generates data for serving more ads based on specific search criteria.
The technology being used at PennySaverUSA.com comes from Adgetix, a division of the Seattle-based Qponix, operator of an Internet advertising network.
Online automotive classifieds at PennySaverUSA.com can be searched make, model, year, price and state. Consumers can also submit their own online ads.
“Widgets are a powerful platform to enhance classified listings because they are portable and viral,” said in a statement Corbin de Rubertis, president of Qponix.
Widgets can be placed on external Web sites to drive traffic to other sites, besides being used for targeting specific content to areas of Web sites that already generate online traffic. For example, PennySaverUSA.com can be linked to other automotive Web sites, by allowing consumers to click widget buttons.
“This Adgetix widget moves us beyond simply driving traffic to PennySaverUSA.com. It has the potential to get us into more specialized online spaces, which is very important to use because it means we can provide our advertisers new ways to target their ads at specific communities of consumers,” said in a statement, Loren Dalton, president of PennySaverUSA.com.
Widgets offer numerous targeting applications besides online classified ads, including mobile advertising and viral marketing.
Consumers can forward widgets via e-mail and text-messages through blogs and social networking Web sites and even to computer desktops, according to Adgetix.
