Older and Wealthier Consumers Most Likely to Sign Up for DNC List: Survey

Another 20% of the wealthiest consumers sign up, compared with another 18% of a cross spectrum of Americans, according to WirthlinWorldwide, an opinion research and consulting firm based in Washington D.C.

Younger Americans, especially those between the ages of 18 and 24, are least likely to enroll with the registry.

Married consumers show a high propensity to sign up as well, with 58% saying they would sign up. Single adults and families without children were less likely to register: 27% and 24%, respectively, indicated they don’t intend to register.

Consumers feel the new laws will have an impact on the volume of calls they receive, with 53% indicating the new laws would have a strong effect and 37% feeling it would have a slight effect.

Consumers seem to understand the value of survey research: 69% favor an exemption that would allow survey research firms to continue to telephone numbers listed on the do-not-call list.

WirthlinWorldwide conducted a national telephone survey of 1,000 adult Americans between June 27 and June 30.
