Boise’s fortunes were boosted by its December 2003 acquisition of OfficeMax Inc. Additionally, during the second quarter Boise recorded a pretax gain of $46.5 million when it sold its interest in Voyageur Panel in May 2004. Without this sale, the company’s net income would have been $22 million.
