The Delray Beach, Fl-based office products marketer attributed the rise in earnings to higher gross margins in its North American retail and delivery business, and lower operating costs in its Business Services group.
Sales were soft across most of the company's European Viking catalog operations. But total worldwide online sales rose from $359.4 million in first quarter 2001 to $488.3 million.
