Nick Nicholas plans to leave the Mail Abuse Prevention System LLC, sources said yesterday. He will not continue in his position as staff director of policy and communications, nor as a spokesman for the Redwood City, CA-based anti-spam group.
The decision reportedly came after internal disagreements over the future and mission of the organization. Sources also said that he was considered to be somewhat more moderate in his positions than others in the organization.
Nicholas could not be reached for comment.
Earlier this week, e-mail marketing company yesmail in New York was granted a temporary restraining order against MAPS to prevent the group from listing yesmail on its Realtime Blackhole List of alleged spammers.
