Mike Bryant, the president of Uni-Mail List Co., which was unable to sustain business operations after the terrorist attacks, has been hired by Adrea Rubin Marketing Inc. Bryant assumes the position of vice president of list brokerage.

"This is like a pleasant dream come true after the nightmare of the last three weeks," Bryant said in a statement.

List brokerage and management firm Adrea Rubin Marketing in New York has also hired Bryant’s account team: Debbie Shapiro as senior production coordinator and Tim Murphy as account executive.

"Mike has been a competitor but also a trusted friend over more years than we both care to remember" CEO Adrea Rubin said in a statement. "We have had some very intense discussions over the last few week and I am really excited that we have been able to reach an agreement where Mike's years of hands on broker experience can be added to mine."

Uni-Mail List Corp., a list management and brokerage firm, located just four blocks from the World Trade Center, closed down eight business days after its offices were rendered inoperable following the devastation from the collapse of the Twin Towers on Sept. 11. The company terminated 35 employees.

"I have made the painful decision that after 30 years the best thing will be to close the company down," Uni-Mail president Mike Bryant said at the time. "It's broken and it can't be put back together again."

Bryant had been negotiating the sale of the company to Direct Media Inc., Greenwich, CT, when the attacks occurred and the deal collapsed. Direct Media, last week hired at least a dozen Uni-Mail employees including brokers Carolyn Woodruff, Jennifer Cutler and Mary Ann Buoncristiano. It also took on a number of Uni-Mail clients including Harlequin, Dream Products, Yves Roche and Jerry Baker.

Bryant plans to liquidate the company’s assets. Uni-Mail was located at 24 Broadway in New York City.
