Ted Meisel, the head of Yahoo! Search Marketing, will leave the company by the end of 2005, CEO Terry Semel announced.
At the same time, Semel said the search and media ad sales units of Yahoo! were undergoing reorganization into one consolidated ad sales unit. David Karnstedt, senior vice president and general manager of Yahoo! Search marketing, will now report to Greg Coleman, executive vice president of global ad sales.
“Moving forward, the search marketing sales team will be operating under the same sales team and the brand marketing team,” Semel announced. “We believe there will be even closer alignment between the two groups.”
Meisel had served at the top of Yahoo!’s search division since the company bought Overture two years ago.
