Restoration Hardware Offers Ways to Thank Dad

Father's Day is fast approaching, and the home decor catalog Restoration Hardware offers "101 ways to say, 'Thanks, Dad" in its latest promotion. The front cover of the Dad's Day 2004 issue of the catalog folds out, calling on sons and daughters to honor their fathers by treating them to dinner, a "frosty one" and a gift from Restoration Hardware's 116-page selection. While the cover copy implies the inclusion of 101 gifts, there is no specific notation dividing merchandise geared towards fathers and the title's standard fare. Instead, gift ideas dominate the first 26 and last eight pages of the book, plus the back cover, with the catalog's regular product selection found in the middle. Dad-oriented gifts are available across a wide spectrum of prices. Sample merchandise includes products such as the Zap'em Racquet Bug Zapper ($15) and a Spalding Stickball Set ($19) on the moderate side, the Ultimate Tool Storage ($499) and a Yater Surfboard ($950) on the high end, and a 9-piece Texas BBQ Attaché ($79) and a Mini Pool Table ($99) in between.

Alpenland International Mails Father's Day Edition
Alpenland International (the rebirth of Tyrol International) is actively promoting its collection of gifts and collectibles this spring. Re-launched by former Tyrol employees after the 33 year-old company ceased operations, the new Alpenland catalog features many of the same European collectibles available from Tyrol as well as a collection of patriotic products from its "American Heritage Series." Its recent 36-page catalog entitled "Father's Day 2004" features a patriotic theme and an America The Beautiful Collectors Plate on the front cover. Inside, a short note from the company begins with the European-flavored text, "Wilkommen to our new spring catalog!" Prices range from $22.95 for a Genuine Edelweiss Framed Picture to $945 for a limited edition "First Love" Hummel Figurine. Products perhaps better suited for dad's big day include Anheuser-Busch Historical Wars Beer Steins, Premium German Style Bratwurst and The World's Smallest Precision Pistol. A standard $6.95 shipping rate is promoted prominently on the cover, a carry over from Tyrol, which offered a standard $6.99 shipping rate. Purchases can be made via mail, phone or online.

Barrie Pace Adds Menswear in Time for Dad
Sophisticated women's apparel cataloger Barrie Pace introduced a new collection of menswear in its recent Summer Collection 2004 book; however, women's career, casual and special occasion clothing remains the focus. Suggesting that its fashion-savvy female customers shop for their male counterparts, the front cover invites, "Introducing Barrie Pace Menswear - Shouldn't he look as good as you?" The "select collection of men's sportswear and casual wear from the names you know and love" is confined to an eight-page insert bound in the catalog. The cover of the insert, titled "Menswear Summer 2004," features a man dressed casually in worn wash jeans and a woven striped shirt with the accompanying text, "Order Now For Father's Day - June 20." Clothing from designer lines Ted Baker, Palm Beach and Austin Reed are featured in the collection, the latter of which is available exclusively from Barrie Pace. The insert also offers sportswear for the avid golfer with products from the Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones collections. Prices are comparable to those in the women's section and range from $42.50 for a solid color piqué polo to $235 for a two-button wool blazer.
