Tokyo-based Livedoor Co. Ltd. has completed the acquisition of MailCreations.com Inc., a provider of permission-based direct marketing solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Livedoor acquired all of the outstanding capital stock of MailCreations.com for an undisclosed amount of cash.
MailCreations.com, Miami, has an e-mail database of more than 100 million permission-based addresses, enabling marketers to identify, target and build consumer relationships through e-mail marketing, according to the company. MailCreations.com is also a provider of other direct marketing services, such as e-mail appending and Internet-based co-registrations.
Jose Vargas, CEO of MailCreations.com, will continue as leader of the business. The addition of MailCreations.com accelerates Livedoor’s international growth with current operations in Japan, China, Germany, Spain and Thailand. In February 2004, Livedoor bought ValueClick’s Japan Division in a transaction valued at $24 million in cash.
“The acquisition of MailCreations.com strengthens our international presence and is a clear example of Livedoor’s ability to deploy on our strategy of being a leader in technology and media services worldwide,” said Takafumi Horie, president and CEO of Livedoor, in a statement. Livedoor is a publicly traded company on the Tokyo Stock Exchange with a current market cap of over $3 billion.
In March 2004, MailCreations.com entered the search engine industry with the acquisition of Florida-based SeekOver.com.
“Our combination with Livedoor brings substantial momentum to our fast-growing business,” Vargas said in a statement. “Our client base will benefit from Livedoor’s integrated offerings, international reach and financial strength.”
