J. Schmid & Associates was the big Ambit winner at the Kansas City Direct Marketing Association’s annual Ambit awards dinner last night at the Westin Crown Center. Named for an Old English word meaning circuit--as in the circuit between buyer and seller--the awards recognize local excellence in direct marketing.
Schmid won both Best in Show and Consistent Achiever awards for the Mary Englebreit space ad campaign. The company’s executive vice president and chief creative officer, Lois Boyle, was recognized as Direct Marketer of the Year.
A new award for Young Direct Marketer of the Year, which goes to someone 30 years old or younger, was presented to Chris Dickey, vice president of relationship marketing for DataPlus Millennium.
The Ambit awards for Most Innovative Solution and Best Bang for the Buck went to Kuhn & Wittenborn for its Sprints internal sales incentive program and Veritas’ remote storage business direct mail campaign respectively.
The balance of the 12 gold Ambit awards went to Bernstein-Rein Advertising, Marketing.com, Butler Manufacturing and Sprint. In addition, 18 silver and 19 bronze awards were presented.
