For the fourth quarter ended Jan. 29, J. C. Penney Co. Inc. posted income from continuing operations of $328 million, compared to $253 million reported during the same period last year.
Catalog/Internet sales in the fourth quarter were $18.4 million, a 3.9% increase over the $17.8 million posted during the prior year quarter. The Internet component of sales increased 33% and continues to be the fastest growing sales channel, according to the company.
