InfoUSA said today that it would no longer participate in the MeritBase business co-op database.
The Omaha-based data compiler stated that it has its own business co-op, Business Response Alliance Data (BRAD). “We no longer find it in the best interest of our shareholders to continue our participation in the MeritBase Business-to-business co-op database,” said CEO Vin Gupta in a statement.
MeritDirect’s CEO, Ralph Drybrough, countered that MeritBase will cover the loss with data from D&B and from Experian’s National Business Database. “Based on our evaluation, we believe the Experian database is as good universe file as infoUSA’s and we found it to be better in its coverage of the Soho markets,” he said.
