John H. Harland Co. will acquire Liberty Enterprises Inc. for $160 million. The deal is expected to close in late May or early June.
Liberty Enterprises provides checks, marketing services and e-commerce offerings primarily to credit unions. The Mounds View, MN-based firm generated $135 million in revenue during 2004, roughly 75% of which came from the sale of checks and forms.
Liberty’s primary marketplace is in the small-to-medium-sized credit union arena, as opposed to Atlanta-based Harland, which primarily focuses on larger credit unions.
