Eleanor Trickett has left her position as editor-in-chief of DM News to take an editorial position at WeightWatchers.com, Direct has learned.
DM News managing editor Cara Wood confirmed the news Thursday. Wood said Haymarket Media, DM News’ parent, has been advertising for a replacement and has interviewed several possible candidates, but nothing was firm yet.
Trickett was editor-in-chief of DM News for almost exactly a year. She was appointed to the position after the previous editor-in-chief, Mickey Alam Khan, resigned in June 2007.
Khan has since launched trade journal Mobile Marketer.
Trickett is one of two high-profile editors leaving the direct-marketing trades this summer.
Former DM News editor-in-chief Tad Clarke has resigned as editorial director for MarketingSherpa to take a position as director of content strategy for business-to-business consultancy Bredin Business Information.
Clarke was editorial director for MarketingSherpa for about two years, and editor in chief of DM News from 1999 until 2006.
Trickett was not immediately reachable for comment at deadline.
