Legislation being proposed in the Illinois House would create the equivalent of a do-not-call list for junk mail in Illinois, according to Pantogrsph.com.
State Rep. Careen Gordon, (D-Coal City), sponsor of the bill, got the idea after senior citizens came to her with concerns about deceiving junk mail. “We patterned it after the do not call list,” Gordon said.
Exceptions in the proposed legislation include a company’s existing customers, nonprofit groups, real estate and insurance companies and customers who agree to receive promotions.
