Lou Mastria, the Direct Marketing Association’s vice president for interactive and emerging media, has resigned, Direct Newsline has learned.

Mastria has reportedly accepted a position as chief privacy officer and vice president of public affairs at NextAction, a Colorado-based co-op database concern launched in 2002 by former employees of co-op database firm Abacus Direct.

Mastria will work out of New Jersey, according to Natascha Lee, NextAction’s vice president of marketing communications. Mastria is scheduled to start his new job in mid-April.

“He is immensely qualified and has a passion for what he does,” said Lee.

Before being named the DMA’s vice president for interactive and emerging media in October, Mastria was the DMA’s vice president of public & media relations.

The DMA did not return a call for comment by deadline.
