William J. Colombo, president and COO of Dick's Sporting Goods Inc., will step down from these positions on Feb. 2. Colombo will immediately assume the role of vice chairman.

William J. Colombo, president and COO of Dick's Sporting Goods Inc., will step down from these positions on Feb. 2. Colombo will immediately assume the role of vice chairman.
His responsibilities will be split among Joseph M. Schmidt, EVP of Operations, Timothy E. Kullman, EVP, Finance, Administration and Chief Financial Officer, and Edward W. Stack, Chairman & CEO.
Colombo joined Dick's in 1988, and became executive VP and COO in 1995. Prior to becoming the Pittsburgh-based firm's president and a board member in 2002, he served as president of dsports.com LLC, the company's Internet commerce subsidiary, from late 1998-2001.
