Amazon.com, Inc. reported net income of $347 million for the fourth quarter, up from $73 million last year.
The online retailer reported net sales of $2.54 billion in the quarter ended Dec. 31, up 31% from $1.95 billion last year.

The Seattle company reported net income of $588 million for the year ended Dec. 31, up from $35 million last year.
Amazon reported net sales of $6.92 billion for the year ended Dec. 31, up 30% from $5.26 billion last year.
According to news reports, Amazon attributed these results to increased holiday shopping at its international and U.S. sites.
