Amazon.com reported net income of $16 million in the third quarter 2003, compared with a third-quarter 2002 loss of $35 million. The company’s net sales were $1.13 billion, up from $851 million a year ago. The quarter ended Sept. 30.
Some of the net income was the result of favorable exchange rates. Sales within the Seattle-based online retailer’s international segment grew 61%, to $425 million.
