Alloy Reports a Strong Third Quarter

Alloy Inc. reported third quarter revenue increased 110% to $93.2 million from $44.5 million one year ago.

The increase reflected a larger advertising sales force, a broader client base and a wider range of media services, the company said. The quarter ended Oct. 31.

Net merchandise revenue for the quarter was $41.3 million, up 30% from the comparable period last year. The growth resulted in part from improved catalog circulation productivity and increased catalog circulation.

Gross profit was $45.5 million compared to $26.6 million.

As of Oct. 31, 2002, Alloy’s database of Generation Y consumers grew to 12.3 million (4.1 million were buyers), versus 8.5 million total names and 2.2 million buyers as of Oct. 31, 2001.

For the nine months ended Oct. 31, revenue was $195.6 million compared to $101.4 million. Merchandise revenue was $103.9 million, up 34% from the year ago period.
