Michael Iaccarino, the former CEO of Epsilon, is no longer with the company. Epsilon spokeswoman Sally Cates confirmed his departure, adding “This is a private matter between Michael Iaccarino and the company and we will not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding Mike’s departure.”
In a memo to Epsilon staff, Mike Parks, chairman and CEO of Alliance Data, Epsilon’s parent company, said “After careful consideration and consultation with the Alliance Data Board of Directors, Mike Iaccarino has been relieved of his duties at Epsilon and is no longer with the company.”
Until a new president is named, John Scullion, president and COO of Alliance Data, will be responsible for Epsilon’s day-to-day business. Scullion will manage the selection process.
According to Parks’ memo, “We will be looking for a leader who is willing and capable to inspire our associates while safeguarding the integrity of our business and its relationships – someone who is committed to the existing Epsilon business strategy and who will work with associates to achieve Epsilon’s goals. If we cannot fill the position internally, we will conduct an external search for the right person.”
Scullion joined Loyalty Management Group Canada, Inc., an Alliance Data subsidiary, in October 1993, and became president and chief operating officer in October 2006. He served as president of Alliance Data Loyalty Services from February 1999 until October 2006, and prior to becoming president, he served as chief financial officer.
Before joining Loyalty Management Group, Scullion was CFO of The Rider Group from September 1988 to October 1993.
According to Cates, Alliance Data remains committed to Epsilon, and there are no plans to change the direction or strategy of Epsilon.
Iaccarino had been with Epsilon since 1998, when he came on as CFO. He was named CEO in 2001. Before joining Epsilon, he was a senior consultant at both KPMG and Price Waterhouse. In October 2008, Iaccarino joined the Direct Marketing Association’s board of directors.
Iaccarino’s departure is the second change to Epsilon’s leadership in a week. On Jan. 6, Andrew Frawley joined the company as president of digital services. Frawley, who founded Exchange Applications, reports to Bryan Kennedy, COO and president of technology at Epsilon.
