Teradata and the National Australian Bank shared the platinum best in show award at the National Center for Database Marketing’s 2008 Database Awards. The two firms also earned the gold prize for excellence in multichannel marketing.

Within the multichannel marketing category, Merchants Bonding Co. and Relationship Marketing Inc. earned the second-place silver, and Alltel and Acxiom Corp. shared the third-place bronze.

In the analytics and modeling applications competition, Cisco took the gold, while work done by Valvoline Instant Oil Change and Catalyst Direct Inc. was good enough to garner silver. Charter Communications Inc. and The Allant Group took home the bronze.

Among the business-to-business winners, Michelin and Datacore Marketing took top honors, while Alvion and Sybase picked up a third-place bronze. Each entrant is individually evaluated and scored: No entrant earned enough points to take home the silver award.

Within the technological applications category, The Marketing Store earned the gold while Progressive Enterprises Ltd. and Proximity ID Ltd. pulled in the silver. The NCDM judges did not choose a bronze winner.

The awards were given out during an NCDM luncheon presentation hosted by magician and comedian Chris Blackmore, who brought new twists to old “pick a card” tricks before handing out the awards. NCDM runs through Wednesday.
