Experian Marketing Services has laid off “approximately 130” employees in what it called a streamlining move.
According to a company spokesperson, “those affected by these changes were not isolated to any particular business area, function, position or location.”
“Experian Marketing Services is dedicated to constantly improving its business practices and operations to meet the needs of its clients and remain competitive and profitable during challenging market conditions,” the spokesperson told Direct Newsline.
“In keeping with this strategy, Experian Marketing Services has taken steps to streamline its current workforce across its businesses in order to continue laying a strong foundation for long-term, sustainable growth.”
During the six months ended Sept. 30, Experian’s U.S. operations generated $1.04 billion in revenue and $251 million in profit, compared with $1.02 in revenue and $257 in profit during the April through September period of 2007. Globally, the company pulled in $2.02 billion during the April-September 2008 period, while its profits stood at $272 million. A year ago those figures stood at $1.79 billion and $229 million, respectively.
In January 2008, UK newspaper The Guardian put Experian’s total worldwide headcount at 15,500 employees.
