The Nigerian government recently made its single biggest seizure of illegally acquired assets from a dead elected official and pastor, the BBC reported.
The $55 million estate of Timothy Olufemi Akanni came under government scrutiny and was subsequently seized after his two widows began a legal brawl over it.
Akanni’s secret second wife was discovered after he died in a plane crash last year.
Seized assets included 23 bank accounts under numerous names, shares in Nigerian banks, houses and land in some of the best areas of the country, some schools and a collection of cars, the BBC reported.
Remember that name: Timothy Olufemi Akanni. Though it was reported that the state seized all his assets, it is impossible to know if it got them all.
We don’t know about you, but if we receive an e-mail purporting to be from one of Timothy Olufemi Akanni’s widows, we’re answering it with a marriage proposal.
