Message Systems and WhatCounts announced a deal under which Message Systems’ e-mail marketing software will be installed on WhatCounts’ Broadcaster, an enterprise-level appliance for marketers who want to bring e-mail in-house.
Message Systems’ software will also be integrated into WhatCounts’ technology for small- to medium-sized businesses, the companies said in a release published at the DMA08 conference in Las Vegas.
The companies also plan to coordinate their sales and marketing efforts, they said.
“This combined offering has obvious benefits for in-house mailers,” said Dave Lewis, chief marketing officer for Message Systems, in a statement.
This is the second reasonably significant announcement to come out of Message Systems this month.
It was announced earlier this month Lewis joined Message Systems to take over the firm’s marketing.
Prior to Message Systems, Lewis was the vice president of marketing for Bizanga, a provider of e-mail systems for Internet service providers and telephone companies.
Before Bizanga, Lewis was vice president of market and product strategy at StrongMail Systems, another firm offering technology for marketers who want to bring their e-mail in-house.
Before leaving StrongMail for Bizanga in August 2007, Lewis was an active member of the e-mail marketing industry, writing contributed pieces for the various trade publications, participating in conference panel discussions, and taking part in initiatives aimed at setting industry-wide standards.
He then pretty much dropped out of sight until reemerging at the DMA08 conference this week.
