Elaine O’Gorman has resigned her position as senior vice president of marketing and product strategy at e-mail service provider Silverpop, this newsletter has learned.
She left in November and according to both O’Gorman and Silverpop, the decision to leave was hers and she departs on good terms with the firm.
O’Gorman said she has left to look for new opportunities.
"I'll be moving to a new challenge after the holidays, but in the meantime, I’m looking forward to spending some time with my family," she said in a statement e-mailed to this newsletter. "Still, Silverpop will always hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to seeing the company reach new heights in the coming months and years."
O’Gorman was with Silverpop for five years. She was a high-profile e-mail executive, often speaking at trade shows and to the trade press on behalf of the company.
Before joining Silverpop, O'Gorman managed Web-site content and e-mail marketing for American Airlines.
"Elaine is one of the brightest and most insightful executives I have had the privilege to work with," said Silverpop CEO Bill Nussey in a statement. "She made tremendous contributions to our company, from building up key departments to helping drive core strategic decisions. While I'll miss working with her, I'm also excited about her plans going forward, and I have no doubt she will be tremendously successful."
According to a company representative, Silverpop has no plans to replace O’Gorman. The five departments she oversaw are now divided between the vice president of marketing, Scott Voigt, and a new hire yet to be finalized who will oversee product management and quality assurance.
