Ramesh Lakshmi-Ratan to Leave DMA COO Post

Ramesh A. Lakshmi-Ratan, the Direct Marketing Association’s executive vice president and COO, is leaving the organization effective Sept. 18. According to an internal DMA memo, Lakshmi-Ratan is joining “a key DMA member.”

The memo did not elaborate.

Lakshmi-Ratan resigned from his post to pursue “a great opportunity that arose for him,” according to DMA senior vice president and chief communications officer Sue Geramian,

There are no plans to replace his position, nor are there any additional staff departures arising from his leaving, Geramian added.

Lakshmi-Ratan’s team will report directly to DMA president/CEO John Greco Jr., according to the memo.

Within Lakshmi-Ratan’s team:

Julie Hogan, senior vice president of conferences and events, will continue to oversee all conferences and events product management and focus on the evolution of external partner events.

Senny Boone, of senior vice president corporate and social responsibility, will continue to lead the DMA’s self regulation and reputation programs as well as for its Nonprofit Federation.

Jodie Sangster, vice president of global development, has been appointed senior vice president of global development and education services, and the education services team will move to report directly to Sangster.

Caryn Sucher has been appointed manager of global development programs and will report directly to Sangster.

Tom Shimko, chief marketing officer, will continue to lead the evolution of DMA’s marketing function, and research and publications product management.

Before joining the DMA in April 2005, Lakshmi-Ratan was the president of VocalTec Americas and senior vice president for strategy for VocalTec Communications Ltd.
Previously, he served in a variety of management, business development, and marketing positions for Yellow Pages, Packetup Corp., Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories and AT&T.
