Event Agency Outfits Tour Vehicle for Katrina Recovery

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Event marketing agency Next Marketing this week sends one of its tour vehicles to Mississippi to help the American Red Cross reunite families separated by Hurricane Katrina.

The Atlanta-based agency outfitted the 53-foot trailer with a satellite communications center and 50 computers donated by Hewlett-Packard. Red Cross personnel can use the vehicle to register victims in a Brookhaven, MI, shelter and locate family members in other shelters across the U.S.

The truck, which traveled the NASCAR circuit from 2001 through 2004 for AOL and NASCAR.com, was also used for rescue efforts following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Next Marketing President Henry Rischitelli offered the vehicle to the Red Cross.

Separately, Baton Rouge, LA-based agency Object 9 and a coalition of local marketing businesses have launched a Web site where marketing professionals displaced by Katrina can post resumes to find jobs elsewhere in the U.S. The site, Postkatrinatalent.org, launched Sept. 7 and has about three dozen resumes posted.
