Parcel shipping firm UPS will raise its rates in 2010. The new rates will take effect Jan. 4.
Ground packages, air express and U.S. origin international shipment rate will jump by an average of 4.9%, according to the company.
The rate increase for air express and international shipments is based on a 6.9 percent increase in the base rate, less a 2 percent reduction in the air and international fuel surcharge index, the company said.
Updated rate and service information has been posted at http://www.ups.com/rates.
On Dec. 18, customers will be able to download the 2010 Rate and Service Guide.
Additionally, on Jan. 4, fuel surcharge tables for air express and ground services will be “adjusted”, according to the company. The new rates will align air and ground fuel surcharges, the company said.
They will also “substantially reduce the volatility of air surcharges when fuel prices fluctuate.”
