Donald Brydon is expected to be named to be chairman of Royal Mail Holdings plc for three years from March, according to wire service reports.
He will replace Allan Leighton who has served seven years at Royal Mail.
Brydon is now chairman of Smiths Group and will join Royal Mail's board as a non-executive director immediately.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government said it may sell a stake in Royal Mail Group Plc to Dutch courier firm TNT NV, in a move that would tap investment needed to prepare the U.K.’s postal service for Europe-wide competition, (Direct Newsline, Dec. 16).
That move is still pending.
