Mike DuBose, CEO of Vertis Communications, will resign from the company effective Jan.1, 2009. The company’s board of directors named Stephen M. Dyott vice chairman and Alex Sorokin interim president of the company. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Dyott is returning to Vertis, after a fashion. He previously served as chairman and chief executive officer of American Color Graphics, which recently merged with Vertis. He will serve as a senior advisor both to the board and to Sorokin.
Sorokin is a managing director of the management firm Zolfo Cooper.
Vertis has retained Heidrick & Struggles to assist in a search for a permanent Vertis CEO.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Mike DuBose for his contributions to the company. Since his recruitment into Vertis by the previous board in December of 2006, Mike led the successful turnaround of Vertis and most recently, helped to lead the successful financial restructuring and merger of Vertis Communications and American Color Graphics,” said Mike Elkins, a member of the Vertis board of directors, in a statement. “With that phase now effectively completed, we understand that Mike is looking forward to new challenges.”
Vertis Communications provides print advertising and direct marketing operations to retail and consumer services firms.
