Room for Color Offers Furniture by Hue
Home decor retailer Room for Color recently mailed its Home Furnishings Spring 2008 catalog. Launched in 2006 by multi-title direct marketer Swiss Colony, the book offers contemporary home furnishings and targets a younger demographic than sibling titles such as Ginny’s, Seventh Avenue, and Through the Country Door. The cover of the 100-page catalog displays an overhead view of a stylish living room. An oblong, purple sticker with a red check mark exclaims “You Are Pre-Approved!” and directs the recipient inside where a bind in explains the details of Swiss Colony’s standard “Choose ‘N Charge” credit offer. A table of contents fittingly divides the collections within by color (Green, Luxe, Blue, Spice, Neutral, Red.) On the chance that some may not immediately identify “Luxe” or “Spice” as color families, each section opens with a description of the shades contained within. For example, Luxe is characterized as “Rich jewel tones and shimmering surfaces.” Room for Color offers furnishings and accessories for every room of the house as well as the patio, including a leather Montclaire Recliner ($699), the Chester Comforter Set in full, queen, or king size ($119), a Solid Pine Dining Nook ($299), and an outdoor Mosaic Firepit ($329). Orders can be made by phone, mail, fax, or online at RoomForColor.com.

Geico Insert Targets Movie Fans
Geico Insurance Company recently reached out to movie fans with an offer for a free rate quote. The 6” x 7-1/2” piece was printed on the detachable inside flap of one of the familiar red DVD rental envelopes from Netflix. It features the insurer's well-known gecko spokeslizard standing next to a microphone and the copy “I love to entertain, but I’m here to save people money.” Benefits of using Geico are listed as “Great rates,” “Service when you need it,” and “Worry-free claims.” Recipients may call a toll-free number, call their local Geico office, or visit Geico.com to obtain their free rate quote.

Hobby Farms Sends Picturesque Package
Hobby Farms, an agricultural title from pet and animal magazine publisher BowTie Inc., recently mailed a colorful #10 package featuring a pastoral scene. Targeted at owners of small farms, the self-proclaimed “magazine devoted to rural living for pleasure and profit” features articles related to livestock, crops, and farm equipment. The full-color, glossy outer package depicts two cows standing in a field under a brilliant blue sky with the text “Low introductory rate – save 50% off the cover price!” The reverse side displays five Hobby Farms magazine covers featuring farm animals such as cattle, horses, and sheep. Inside, a letter describes the publication as full of tips, how-to articles, and feature stories. A color insert urges recipients to “Subscribe to a more rewarding way of life.” The insert further describes a “magazine with big ideas for small farms” along with a few reader testimonials praising the publication. The reply form presents the hard offer of “One full year, 6 issues, for only $15!” as an introductory rate.
