The summer 2008 catalog Silhouettes, the plus-size apparel line from Hanover Direct, arrives in a slim-jim format, as opposed to its standard book size. The 60-page mailing offers a 20% discount on offers, as well as a deferred payment plan for all credit card offers. A fundraising package from The League of the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague includes a devotional cardstock religious shrine freemium, and while the package doesn’t ask for a specific amount, the message “The more you honor me the more I will bless you” is embossed on the shrine. And EversGallery, a business-to-business marketer, has mailed out a lapel pin catalog with a personalized polywrap cover.

Silhouettes Tries On Fashionable New Size
Hanover Direct’s plus size apparel catalog Silhouettes recently sent out its Summer 2008 catalog in a slim-jim format as opposed to its usual larger 10” x 7-1/2” trim size. The 60-page book features seasonal merchandise and promotes incentives of 20% off any order as well as a deferred payment plan for all credit card orders. The front cover depicts a smiling woman wearing a Swiss Dot Blouse ($39) and a pair of Seersucker Cropped Pants ($29 - $34). The merchandise inside includes an assortment of beaded v-neck Embellished Dresses available in turquoise, black or magenta ($49), a pair of gold or silver Hoop Earrings ($19), a blue Delta Burke Ombre-Print Suit ($69) and multiple shoe styles such as the Starburst Slide ($34) and Dotted Bow Slide ($29). A short clearance section surrounding the order form features items such as a cotton Solid Cover-Up ($34.99) and a Pleated Trapeze Dress ($49.99). Opposite the order form are the details of the affinity credit card and the Silhouettes Circle Rewards program, which entitles members to discounts and coupons. Orders may be placed by mail, phone, fax, or online.

League of the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague Mails Freemium
The League of the Miraculous Infant Jesus of Prague recently mailed a fundraising package containing a devotional freemium. The Catholic nonprofit is named for a famous statue of Jesus and is dedicated to supporting the education of seminarians and the work of the Carmelites in the U.S., Canada, and around the world. The light blue, #10 package is decorated with an image of the “Infant Jesus,” along with the teaser “Free Devotional Religious Shrine Enclosed For You.” Inside, a letter from the director of the organization explains its mission of promoting devotion through prayers and daily masses. The 7” x 3-3/4” cardstock freemium bears the same image as the envelope and the letter, with an embossed gold frame and the words “The more you honor me the more I will bless you.” On the reverse, a fold out stand and a notched hole enables recipients to conveniently prop up or hang the shrine. The reply form asks recipients to make an unspecified donation to “support the Carmelite priests and brothers as they honor the Infant Jesus by ministering to the poor, the elderly, the infirmed and by educating children in our Catholic faith.” The reverse side provides space to write in names of those the donor wishes to have protected through prayer.

EversGallery Sends Personalized Polywrap
Business-to-business marketer EversGallery, which specializes in employee recognition products, used a personalized approach in a recent polywrapped package. The company, formerly called Pin Gallery, generally mails catalogs promoting its line of recognition pins and promotions. The 6” x 8-1/2” package features the teaser “(Name), Now is the time to Save 10%!” directing recipients inside for details. Photos of three different lapel pin designs are also personalized to feature the recipient’s company name. Volume-based pricing ranges from $2.95 each for 300 or more pins to $3.95 each for 1-12 pins. An unusually shaped enclosure can be felt within, which turns out to be a clear plastic tray containing a sample pin freemium with the message “Always Reaching for Success.” Also inside is a tri-fold sheet with more personalization and information about custom lapel pins. Companies can add their name and logo to a variety of designs with messages including “I Make a Difference” and “Success.” A promotional code for a 10% off any order discount can be redeemed by mail, phone, or online at EversGallery.com.
