The Talbots, Inc. has named John Kovac senior VP and chief information officer. In this newly created position, Kovac will oversee Talbots; information technology initiatives and will report to Michael Scarpa, Talbots COO and CFO.
“John brings extensive expertise in aligning key business functions with strategic financial controls and technology solutions to improve a company’s performance,” Scarpa said in a statement. “We are very pleased to welcome John on board, as he will be instrumental in helping us establish critical financial and benchmarking practices that are necessary to operate in today’s economic environment.”
Kovac joins the women’s apparel marketer from Liz Claiborne, where he held various leadership roles including interim CIO; VP of systems and operations; and VP of information technology. In these roles, he was responsible for the company’s global systems and technology applications, network infrastructure and systems services supporting operations in North America, Europe and Asia.
Before his time at Liz Claiborne, he held senior technology and computer services positions at Morgan Stanley and CIT. Additionally, over the past 15 years, he has held several consulting positions focused on financial decision-making applications.
