Harry & David Acquire Cushman Fruit Company

Harry & David Holdings has acquired the Cushman Fruit Company of West Palm Beach, FL. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Cushman Fruit sells a variety of specialty foods, primarily Florida citrus, through a variety of channels. One of its best-known products is the Cushman HoneyBell, a seasonal offering touted via direct response ads in several national newspapers, among other outlets.

The company generated $19 million in sales during 2007.

“Our brands are very complementary,” said Allen Cushman, president of Cushman’s, in a statement. “The entire Cushman team and I look forward to working with everyone at Harry & David to significantly expand Cushman’s strong direct marketing, Internet and wholesale businesses.”
