Chico’s FAS Expects Profits to More Than Double

Chico's FAS Inc. reported net sales of $419.9 million for the second quarter, an increase over net sales of $405.2 million last year.

The direct marketer and retailer expects to post : earnings of between nine and 10 cents per share for the quarter ended Aug. 2, more than doubling last year’s figure of four cents per share.

Direct marketing sales increased 46% over the prior year second quarter 2008.

The company will report the complete operating results on Aug. 25.
